Plugin House Brings Art and Culture to Harvard

With support from the Loeb Fellowship and the Office for the Arts at Harvard, we brought the Plugin House to Harvard University. Students new to design and construction assembled the Plugin House in the heart of Harvard Yard.

The Plugin House is a flexible, low-cost, easy-to-assemble housing solution ideal for backyard homes (ADUs), transitional housing, emergency shelters, or hospitality. The system can also be deployed in larger-scale institutional projects or for upgrading historic or disused structures.
Simple, nimble, quick.
The Plugin System uses prefabricated panels that feature structural components, insulation, and finishes molded into a single modular element. Plugin panels attach to each other with integrated locks and the entire house can be assembled by a few people with nothing more than an Allen wrench. This innovative elegance allows you to build your own house quickly and affordably, even on difficult-to-access lots or urban areas.

Plugin’s high-quality building material makes for extremely energy-efficient, inviting, and soundproof architecture. With insulation that outperforms most residential buildings, the Plugin panels are water-tight and mold-resistant.
One-stop shop.
Every step in the Plugin System is a turnkey service. We use our collective decades of expertise in development, construction, architectural and product design, and public processes to manage the architectural, contracting, design, electrical, engineering, plumbing and permitting processes for you. That includes inspections, foundation, framing, installation and interior finishes.
